Trump’s DOJ digs in on tariff refunds

Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.), Deborah Ross (D-N.C.) and Marc Veasey (D-Texas) on Friday introduced a resolution to scrap the 25 percent tariffs Trump imposed on India over its continued purchases of Russian energy.

“Instead of advancing American interests or security, these duties disrupt supply chains, harm American workers and drive up costs for consumers,” Krishnamoorthi said in a statement. “Ending these damaging tariffs will allow the United States to engage with India to advance our shared economic and security needs.”

The move marks the latest effort by Democrats to force votes on country-specific tariffs imposed under his emergency powers, even as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is expected to prevent the resolution from reaching the House floor.
