R-CALF USA, a trade group representing U.S. cattle and sheep producers, appealed to USTR Katherine Tai for “immediate action to protect America’s lamb producers” against “unrestrained and ever-increasing importation of foreign lamb and mutton that do not meet the United States more stringent production standards.” Such imports pose an existential threat to U.S. farmers, according to the letter, which includes a “petition for relief” put together by R-CALF.
