Ecuador‘s shrimp industry has become one of the fastest-growing aquaculture sectors in the world, doubling production every five years. According to Sandro Coitore, CEO of Omarsa, this success has also made the country a growing target of protectionist measures that limit access to key export markets.
For explorers, he suggested, successful trade policy requires more than lower tariffs. It also depends on effective negotiations around sanitary measures, technical requirements, and implementation.
